How to Choose a Landscape Supplier
Are you an impulse buyer? If so, you buy small items located at or near the checkout counter, at the last minute, that you had not planned to purchase.
There is nothing wrong with this method, if you end up happy with those purchases. But many times, these items are not good for us (Reese’s), or don’t last as long or work as well as some others (pens, eyeglass repair kits, videos, etc.).
Why is this? Generally because they tend to be very low price, which at times is incompatible with high quality.
When you are considering where to buy your mulch, stones, shed, fire pit or grass seed, or where to rent a dumpster or tiller, you need to think about price, and quality, but also service, convenience, and community commitment.

I Want My Summer Pool Party, But I Have Many Miles to Go
My pool is great, and I finally have my pump, filter and temperature controls down pat, now I’m just counting on some more great weather. Lord knows, we’ve earned it!
But there’s much to do. I want to invite people from work, and that means I cannot leave my patio and walkway in its current shape. It’s been too icky, and too dangerous, for too long. So I’ll take a drive to AJT Supplies this weekend. I love those guys, because they know every product, and don’t just want to sell it, but they want me to be happy.
Sometimes I see something, but it’s not right for my yard, because of the type of plants I have, or perhaps my young kids could get hurt if the stones are not flush. Albert and everyone there have a knack for knowing people. They make sure I get things done right the first time.
Budget-wise, I’m always confident their pricing is on par with Lowe’s etc., and given the level of service, I honestly don’t know how they do it. So this weekend I’ll head to Foxborough, and get this party started!
Which Mulch For My Many Moods and Shrubs
With each passing season, I get a little more gray hair. My wife says I look more sophisticate, but I also know it is okay, because it indicates I’m wise. But where does that wisdom come from?
AJT Supplies. Those guys help me turn my nightmare yard into the property of my dreams. You may think I’m exaggerating, but I’m not. There’s nothing worse than going to Home Depot and seeing some crappy mulch on sale, and expecting it to do the job for all your spots in the yard, such as small trees, large trees, flower beds and hedges.
Not only does AJT have a great selection, but they know what will work best, in terms of ease of planting, mowing issues, and of course watering. And if they can’t help me, which almost never happens, they always can recommend someone else. Frankly, it’s a joy to deal with them.
The fact is, I’d have a lot more gray hair if it weren’t for them. I’m thankful for the honest, hard-working people Albert has on staff. Don’t know what I’d do without them.
Landscaping 101
I’ve owned my home for about ten years, and each year I get just a little bit better at making my home and property more comfortable, with less time and money invested. Of course, given gas prices right now, I was sure I was in for a rude awakening when I visited my favorite landscape supplier in West Roxbury. But no, I can afford to do what I need to do.
If I made it seem like I know something about landscaping, it’s true, I do. I know who to call, and where to go, to get the best-looking stones, mulch, decking, etc., and I can trust they won’t over-sell me, or waste my time.
Of course if I’m not going to be watching the Red Sox (I can only take so much torture), I’ll have plenty of extra time on my hands. But things will turn around, and I’ll probably stick to lighting the tiki torches and grill, and let the experts guide me on my landscaping issues.
Anyway, my neighbors are always asking me, “How did you get such a nice back yard?” I’ll tell you what I tell them. Go to the best. Go to AJT and don’t skimp on know-how. That’s Landscaping 101.
